Quilombo Do Samba was set up in 1991 by Geraldo (Jimmy) Rodregues ,a Brazillian percussionist and has been going ever since. I joined in about 1993/1994 and played regularly for several years until moving back up north.Quilombo has done many top class events incuding big breakfast, notting hill carnival,royal albert hall,grosvenor house hotel,cafe de paris, trafalger square, and glastonbery.
Quilombo is a large marching type of band with many members.
Usually Quilombo parades at the Notting hill Carnival in London where Quilombo attracts many of it's suporters. The photos you see of Quilombo on this website have all been taken by myself and are available for reproduction at a small cost.
Don't forget Quilombo was perhaps the first band of it's type formed in London way back in 1991.
Since then Quilombo has grown in status to become the best exponant of Brazillian Samba Culture within Europe.
Quilombo is controlled and directed by Jimmy who himself is a native from Brazil and an accumplished Sambista.
